To all us newbies and wannabes, we have to channel our inspiration from somewhere? What about a style veteran? Someone who can mix vintage and YSL tributes flawlessly but someone who is also established in the blogging world. I had a chance to interview Ms. Mean Shoe Game herself Princess Dominique about her insane shoe fetish, the ever so popular shoe giveaway and the future of Princess Dominique.

Tell us three things we don’t know about Princess Dominique.

I'm an introvert. I hate shopping in stores and I am such a giving person that every year I donate clothing and shoes to the Salvation Army an dplaces like that and would probably give you the coat off my back if you were standing freezing in the cold.

Your site has been up for about 6 years that’s a major milestone! How do you manage to keep your readers engaged and keep your site interesting?

I actually had major issues with a past host and had to rebuild my sitea nd stats from scratch, but I feel that when you are passionate about what you share (as I am about shoes, fashion and my opinion about celebs) that people come back and will continue to follow you and what you do because they can relate to that honesty and are drawn to it. I try to keep my writing off the cuff and not over think what I'm going to share. Sometimes things pre-empt what I want to share like the passing of DJ AM or Corey Haim. I try not to overdose my reader on what celebrities are doing though. I like to mix up music, shoes, tv with my own life and what's going on in it.

We can definitely call you the queen of shoes. What brand of shoes do youthink is the best and which brand runs your closet?

I don't know if I could even pick a favorite. There are so many brands that I love for different reasons. I love Camilla Skovgaard, Christian Louboutin, Nicholas Kirkwood, Cesare Paciotti, Jeffery Campbell,Christian Sirano, Yves Saint Laurent and so many more. Right now BeBe is a mainstay in my closet with Velvet Angels running a close second.

How do you define success in the fashion industry? Do you feel that “bloggers” get a bad rep in the industry?

I think success is marked in so many different ways. You can make your mark just having your name mentioned and leave a legacy based on starting a single trend. I do believe that bloggers are often thought of like bargain basement reporters when it comes to fashion and writing up commentary. I'm a published author with seven works of fiction in print, an acclaimed collection of poetry and a non-fiction book for singles. But if someone wanted to just judge me by my blog alone they would miss out on all of my writing expertise. I'm sorry for them if they do that though. They shouldn't let the word "blogger" make them turn up their nose. If they do it's their loss.

What can we look forward to from you and the Princess Dominique site in the next 3 years?

Int he next 3 years I look forward to broaden my base in publishing. I want to publish a coffee table book, maybe a collection of short stories about shoes. I'd love to bring additional brands on board for The Weekly Shoe Giveaway and possibly even do some prime time advertising. I'm not totally against reality tv either. I say, "bring it."

What prompted the first shoe giveaway on your site?

I wanted to create the same excitement I get when I see a shoe that I truly love and desperately want. I love reading the comments from the people who are entering to win a particular shoe and enjoy seeing what they'd pair a shoe with. You can really tell that my readers love shoes. I must say that I couldn't do it without the generous sponsors,so, I want to thank each and every one of them. Without them The Weekly Shoe Giveaway wouldn't be possible.

We know your style mantra is not about buying the most expensive stuff but learning the difference between overpriced and quality. How do you integrate that ideal into your closet?

I make it a habit of sticking to designers that I love. I am loyal to them like a friend. When I love the fit of something, be it a shoe, a blouse or a pair of slacks I buy them in multiple colors. You'll find a basic wool crepe suit from J.Crew that I love the fit of in camel, black, brown and navy in my closet. Things that you love should always be staples in your closet.Those $200 suits will last me for 8-10 years. That's how I look at it and that's priceless.

I'm not a hater or pessimist. See my disclaimer.. One of my friends used to talk to one of these brothers. And at first I was like MJ oh really, he's my favorite designer of all times. *This was like 2 years ago. Then when I saw the runway show they did the accessories for I remembered saying ... what the hell? OKAY. sure...

So I've just been watching their moves and I have a couple of questions. What happens if Lego sues them? Do they have the right to patent Lego's already patented work? Who's John do you have to folly with to get such a big company to agree with some shit like this. Unless they are a. getting a major cut or b. not using Lego's insignia which is not happening because the insignia is apparent. Either way it would still be highly illegal.

Another question. What grown ass woman would want to wear a lego headband? The author of stylephile had the same concern as I did...

Do they buy Lego's wholesale or go to Toys'R'Us like everyone else.

I've been quiet about the whole thing because I figured, hmm that's different. It's different and it's whack. So there my mind is made up. I'm pretty sure they are really nice guys.. Reading your blog, we can tell that Pepper and Elba are two very different people especially when it comes to style. What would Pepper wear on a first date, a short skirt or ripped jeans?

I would go with ripped jeans If I had too I don't think a short skirt is really not appropriate for the first date.

Do you prefer to be the one who stands out or the one who blends in? (Neons or Neutrals)

Neons all the way! There's no edge in neutrals unless it's all black :/

On a regular work day, can we find Pepper in a pair or dunks or a pair of classic Christian Louboutins?

Neither,Louboutins aren't everyday work shoes. Unless you can afford a variety,I feel like a women should have selection. & dunks you can save forthe gym.

Judging by that, our guess is that when it comes to wedges or stilettos, you opt wedges?

Wedges are comfortable but stilettos give you such a sexy look, so stilettos.

In regards to your style versus Elba's which one of you is more high fashion?

Iwould say I am,but I don't claim to be high fashion or fashionable Ijust wake up every morning and put on what I feel like wearing and itjust so happens to make sense

Which one of you are more likely to fall head over heels?

I'mreally mushy, and affection but I don't think I need to fall in love soI won't allow myself to fall in love right now, so Elba lol

Since you seem like a lady who takes no mess? What would you do if you found out your ol' boy was cheating on you?

If you find out ol’boy was cheating you first thing …just breathe and relax u never act off of emotions

If you were going to meet the parents, and you had a choice of lace and frilly or cool and casual which one would you pick?

We all know the story of the coveted Manolos. Every girl has to wear them at a dressy event, a gala, a wedding. What about just for fun? The go to shoes for fun are usually Alexander McQueen and CL but now we may have to reconsider those biases. I took a peak at the sketches for SS 2010 shoes, and might I say they were breathtaking. The construction : flawless, the execution? Even better. I just hope these sketches translate into real life..(aka Christian Siriano for payless that were oh so magnifica that were a complete FAIL, well not really but they just weren't what we expected)

Instead of adding in a gem here, something swarvorskied there, Blahnik actually did some real damn architecture to these shoes! I like the fact that they are straying away from their predictable hoo-rah and offering us something that we will love!

A place where designers could sell their stuff without the eerie ebay vibe. The interface is that of an interactive store. Beware, these one of a kind pieces ain't no cheap shit!
