I will definitely be writing about that on the Temporist The prices are ridiculous, there are no 3d shows and the only 3d technology that exists is the bluray disc(like only one) and how many people have bluray anyway. firstly, this sweater which I think is adorable! It's from pyknic.. $65.00 Karmaloop. I saw the sweater and I was like damn that's cute and then I saw the label, then I said damn, that's got Johnny Cupcakes written all over it! Plagarism? A bit extreme. Inspiration? Probably.

We all know the story of the coveted Manolos. Every girl has to wear them at a dressy event, a gala, a wedding. What about just for fun? The go to shoes for fun are usually Alexander McQueen and CL but now we may have to reconsider those biases. I took a peak at the sketches for SS 2010 shoes, and might I say they were breathtaking. The construction : flawless, the execution? Even better. I just hope these sketches translate into real life..(aka Christian Siriano for payless that were oh so magnifica that were a complete FAIL, well not really but they just weren't what we expected)

Instead of adding in a gem here, something swarvorskied there, Blahnik actually did some real damn architecture to these shoes! I like the fact that they are straying away from their predictable hoo-rah and offering us something that we will love!

Anywhooo, this post is about the new collection by Zac Posen who like many other designers is seeing the green in the modestly priced contemporary brands (not my standards) Doo.Ri, Alexander Wang and Elizabeth and James are amongst his competitors. But instead of JUST offering a lower priced line, he is also offering LARGER sizes so this seasons collection goes up to a size 12 and next year he promises a size 14. This could very well be the deal breaker! Mr. Posen claims to want his clothing available to ALL women not just Heiress size twos. Commendable! It's a start.

The most expensive thing is $575 which if you're familiar with Contemporary is quite amazing. That's like dirt cheap!

6 ways to get through a budget crunch

I have come up with 6 ways to help you guys as well as myself save money. It's things that I have been doing since I had to budget myself. These are not fashion related, but it's things that we do mindlessly without even considering our options!

1. PUT THE SODA DOWN
Tea is a much cheaper and healthier choice. A box of 100 lipton tea bags go for about $3. If you have a mug at work or invest in one of those hot/cold mugs, you'll be having tea for days and saving yourself a lot of $1.50's. Do the math 3 tea bags a day are still cheaper than buying one Rockstar, Coke or Pepsi.

2. HAVE AN APPLE
Or any other fruit that you like instead of a bagel or donut at breakfast. My coworker boasts that she can buy an apple for 50 cents which is true! Especially on Kings Highway by E18th st. Make it a point to shop around!

3.COUNT YOUR CALORIES, WATCH YOUR CASH
It seems like the higher something is in calories the more expensive it is. It's logic watching your calories could definitely be saving you cash, that is unless of course you're eating organic food. Opt going to the fish market, in the place of Pathmark or the meat market instead of your nearest Associated. They might require you to buy a little bit more but meat can last a long time in the deep freezer.

4.DON'T GYM IT
I know that sounds absurd but all of us city dwellers have gyms in our front yards. Public parks that is, take a walk or a jog in one of the parks and WALK to get there don't take a cab. It's free and you're saving that $20 a month membership for that gym you have to drive or take the train to.

5.RESIST THE BEST SELLERS LIST
Some of us get caught up in the hoorah of Oprah's new book list or the NYTimes, there's nothing wrong than reading a classic. Head to the library and pick up a few books! *for my gadget girls: don't buy a kindle! If you own an Iphone or any of the Android phones there are APPLICATIONS you can download to read books! I have WATTPAD and it even lets you have the option of reading material OTHER people like yourself have written!

6. THE CULPRIT: THAT PHONE BILL
Getting a phone bill that is above $70 doesn't even shock half of us anymore. That's a problem! See if there is anyway to save money. If you're a texter get 300 minutes and unlimited texts rather than 5,000 minutes and 1,000 text messages. Learn about that google voice service to see if that's an option for you. If you hardly use the internet, DON'T GET IT. Try and get a home phone to pick up the slack where your phone provider lacks (oh snap that rhymes!)

Dear Liqueur makers,

As consumers we want a liqueur that tastes really good, doesn't give us a hangover and smells awesome. You got all that? Good.

VeeV got it and that's why this "superdrink" has become one of my favorite liqueurs really fast! My initial experience with VeeV was at an event for the opening of the RedLight PR's NY office. As quick as these guys were making cocktails, they were going. After about 5 minutes of speculation, JT and I decided to try one(after all it was free) It was a spritzer, tasted as if there was hardly any liquor in it, which is an absolute plus for me because I'm HUGE on taste. It smelled really good, fruity and it was light.

Here are the specs:
VeeV is by classication a vodka, distilled with Idaho potatoes, infused with Acai, Prickly Pear and Acerola Cherry. Prickly Pear is known to curb hangovers,(perfect for a vodka don't you think), Acai is the berry from Brazilian Amazon which is known to have multiple health boosts. Acerola Cherry is known for its high volume of carotene(the stuff in carrots your mom said makes your eyes pretty) and vitamin C. So this liquor is better for you than those fries you've been chomping on lately.

Don't let the classification of Vodka fool you though, VeeV does not consider itself a Vodka, it considers itself something better in a classn by itself. I agree it is the first and only Vodka to have such ingredients and it is also the first liqueur to have a Carbon Neutral certification by the US government. So it's CERTIFIED green. Very official!

On top of being green inside, it is also doing its part outside. VeeV donates $1 of every bottle sold back to the environment of which it's main ingredients are derived from: the Brazilian Amazon Rainforest. To see the cocktails I mixed it with click here

It's not as strong as what we're used to but we love the taste and the fact that it doesn't taste gross is you mix it with other liquor!

To all the Brooklyn Posh viewers, I hate to leave you in the dark so I decided to keep you guys updated. I know many of you are thinking what the fuck happened to the site, crazy images, burgers and tomatoes and here's what happened. I was in the middle of changing our blog host to wordpress figuring that it would be sweet, easy and peachy. What I got was not so easy. In order to host my blog on wordpress, I would have to pay Godaddy to get individual hosting and then host on wordpress which costs about 70 bucks a year which I really don't have right now. Especially not for this purpose. So before actually looking in to everything I needed to get the blog over there, I chucked it all copied my rss entries and put it to wordpress. It's my fault I fucked up, I know. But to top it all off, I deleted the weebly account and in my attempt to reopen the weebly, I can't forward brooklynposh to it anymore. I don't know why but the shit just isn't working. It's really pissing me off quite honestly.

Besides the blog shit, my apartment is still in the pits noting a very lovely HOLE (potential hole) in my ceiling from the lovely accident that happened on Christmas. These mfers are just fueling the fire for when I SUE THEIR ASSES. and oh yeah, no one came or called to fix the shower head that has not been working.

I just wanted to let you guys know just in case you thought I was giving up blogging. I don't quit that easily!

This article was written by Maria Ricapito and it came a little weird to me as you always see the fragrances on table tops, downtown Manhattan, Brooklyn and Canal St. but you never really stop to think where they come from. As on the other hand if you see a fake bag you're quick to go OH No, ewl I don't wear knockoffs. If the Burberry perfume is wrapped in the signature Burberry Nova Check pattern and it has plastic on it, do you really think about what's in that bottle?

My first experience with a fake perfume came as I had spent $70 of my hard earned Loehmanns money to buy a Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue which is now my top 3. Only to find that this family member of mine, was using my $70 bottle of perfume with EASE, like it was FREE. Spraying before she left the house, after a shower, HELLO that's 70 PLUS TAX! She only fixes herself to buy a knockoff and invite me to use because it "smells" the same. The thing did not smell the same. Within 20 minutes I didn't smell it anymore, it was more like dark blue than light blue and I hid my light blue after that but moving on.

This article cites health issues that have arisen from folks who used the faux fragrances, (a term coined by the article) including one person who bought Red Door and discovered a welt on her neck. There have been reports of "contaminated alcohol", "antifreeze", pee, and "harmful bacteria". SHAMELESS PLUG (I hope the author doesn't smoke because all of these"(besides the urine I hope) is in her body he he). The article makes the claim that these counterfeits are not a nameless or harmless business as the funds are used to support and monetize other illegal activities.

Not to play Devils Advocate but I will definitely have to on this one. One of the cited people in the article is Paul Mitchell who is quoted saying that "it hurts our brand if someone does get the product from a drugstore or supermarket, it's old or counterfeit".

If Paul Mitchell thinks every time a woman in NYC runs out of shampoo, she's not going to go to a Loehmanns, or a CVS or Duane Read but instead run to his shop and pay $15 more he's out of his damn mind. I thought this article was about illegal vendors not legal vendors. A supermarket is a legal vendor and if there is a quality issue, e.g. expiration of products, he should do what LVMH did and hire a task force to get them off the streets.

I can not understand how Paul Mitchell can be mad for consumers who shop around, when I'm certainly 100% sure he's not using the most expensive production and distribution for his product, because he wouldn't make any money. GET REAL!

This is capitalism, there are going to be people who make quality stuff, people who knock off the quality stuff and those who can't afford it to buy the knockoffs. I don't agree with what's going on but it's really not up to us, it's up to the government.

Isn't mockery the highest form of flattery??

Last night my boo and I went to dinner. I went running up and down Kings Highway ablazed in a fever that I had from the previous night. (Yes I made up ablazed but so what kill me.) I was shopping on a tight, tight budget, aka $100 for 2 outfits and I needed something that was HOT. I saw a LaRok blazer at Loehmanns on 7th avenue in the city but it was $60 which is good price for LaRok not good for my pockets. So I went over to Fox's (discount store just like Loehmanns) Coney Island avenue and Avenue p for some shoes. I was quite successful. Bagged up a pair of Via Spigas for $49,(10 dollars of all boots) and then ran to a couple of Russian Boutiques on Kings Highway (overpriced) before I ended up at Rainbow looking for a dress I spotted a few weeks back. No luck. Last Resort? Conway. Don't judge me. I love Conways. Just like in any department store you have to know what's quality and what's not. The result? 2 dresses for UNDER $24. BEAT ME. I dare you.

The best part of this story comes when I went to Fishtail and the hostess complimented me on my dress and asked me where I got mines from. I told her Conway $14 bucks and the heffa almost flipped her lid. $70 on an express dress. SUCCCCKKKKKAAAAAAAAA!

I'm not advocating you guys go buy knock off stuff and religiously shop and cheap stores, use your judgement! But for a last minute fix, hesitate to dig in your pocket for once. Especially if you know you'd probably never wear that thing again! (At Least not this year!)

FYI Rainbows has a crap load of rompers for 19.99 hop on it!

Alexander is dead, Long live McQueen

Of course I didn't want to rush this, a mini tribute to a man that I never knew but who has had such an impact on my life. People often say it's silly to be distraught or upset over those who have passed that you never knew but I say inspiration is unmeasurable. When I heard he past, like many of you I was devastated. The initial report ruled out any foul play and later in the day we discovered that he had in fact killed himself.
As Alexander McQueen was second in my life from Marc Jacobs it's only right he got the proper goodbye for us. Alexander McQueen in a time plagued by poverty, bitchassness and all things negative brought a sense of playfulness to the fashion world. Fashion was ugly and weird but it was an art form to him. Every year amongst dozens of dozens, Alexander McQueen's collections was amongst top three to look forward to. As an inspiration to wanna bes, almost bes and all individuals in between he proved that even in a recession good artistry is recession proof. From Puma to Target, he made gold out of everything he ever touched. Even after his death, his presence and influence in the fashion world remains as strong as it was before he died. "Fashionistas" come and go by the artists who create those fashions live forever. Rest in peace to the late, great Alexander McQueen, you will absolutely be missed.

Let's Talk Childhood Obesity

So last week I was reading an article about the first children and Michelle Obama putting it out in the free world that her kids according to the Doctor were overweight. I believe they used the term "obese". Anywho since she caught so much heat for openly talking about her daughter's weight she is starting an initiative along with President Obama to launch a task force to help combat the issue of childhood obesity.

The task force will have 90 days to conjure a brilliant plan to fight this issue. Obama is requestion $10 mbillion dollars for the overhaul of school launches ( a vast majority of NYC students either don't qualify or brown bag because school lunch was subpar)

While childhood obesity is an issue, how about if there is no economy, there will be no food or childhood obesity. Just a thought. I also wonder how much this "task force" is getting paid, and where is that money coming from.
