What you don't know could kill you
4 facts I bet you didn't know about water.

The truth is water is everywhere and now in the wake of the body conscious green movement, there is more of a push than ever to get people earth and body conscious. More gyms are popping up in your residential neighborhood, your local supermarket is selling Tofu ice cream. You figure I'm not the type to eat organic ice cream, nor am I the type to gym it. I'll just drink more water. Not so fast.

Myth 1:

Drinking bottled water is safer than drinking tap.

Not exactly. Before 2009, water bottle distributors (Poland Spring, Aquafina and Smart water included) were not required to test or get rid of Ecoli traces.

Myth 2:

You are supposed to drink 8 glasses of water a day.

Unfortunately this premise is still unfounded. There is no medical evidence to the amount of water needed per day. It's a guestimation by the experts.

Myth 3:

If you're a runner drinking gallons of water daily does your body good.

False! It does more harm than good. Drinking too much water can force you to become "water intoxicated". It can lead to death by means of pulmonary edema and cerebral enema.

Myth 4:

If I'm hairy when I go to the beach I'll be less likely to get a sunburn.

Hairy legs are more prone to sunburn that shaved legs because the hair follicles on your body holds more water(moisture) than your skin.
