Couture Fashion Week
There were so many shows to go to and not enough $20 dollar bills for the martinis downstairs in the Waldorf Astoria. This year's Couture Fashion week was a whimsical, glorious showcase of fashion from the best designers around the world. Everything was beautifully made and the best part of it all was being so close to everything. The show started fashionably, fashionably late. As I was just fashionably late (lol). The wait was well worth it. I actually ran into one of the Nigerian designers in the rest room who had complimented me on my shoes, and told me her hands were numb from sewing for the last 12 hours. One of the dresses she had was beaded, sequined and swarvorskied all over(yeah allllaa dat) and she did not want any of the interns messing it up. Not even 3 minutes later a swarm of about 12 girls ran in to get autographs and talk to her. I was whisked far away from the action. The highlights were definitely Andres Anquino who is as quirky as Marc Jacobs and it definitely shows in his clothing, Jorge Diep who is a native of the Dominican Republic (shouts out to the lady sitting next to me as her friend was his make up artist) all the dominican people were definitely there to represent him and his fabulous clothing. Han Couture which was the Japanese section,(pictured below) absolutely elegant!
My favorite hands down was Amal Sarieddine who really put his foot in the fashion. His dresses are below! I'd like to thank the press people over at CFW and I hope we can do this again next year! Bigger and better!
